Welcome to the Thunder Bay Kirtan page. Namaste! Marjut Vahtola, owner of Resting Frog Yoga Studio in Thunder Bay, has been hosting Om Nights for a number of years. She has always loved the music of Kirtan and in the winter of 2006, she brought together a group of like minded people who share her love of music, yoga and kirtan. Chandra, Wolfe and David join their musical talents and spirits to create a heart felt sonic environment, helping to bring Kirtan participants to their own personal healing space through the power of group devotional song, and to create a sense of community connectedness.

	What Is Kirtan? Kirtan (yoga chant) is a participatory, cross-cultural music experience that incorporates the audience right into the performance. These ancient chants contain powerful healing and transformational energies that serve to reconnect us to the Ever-present and Eternal Being that lies within us all. Although the language of kirtan is often in Sanskrit, the true language of kirtan is universal, because it is a language of the heart.
	By chanting the different names and aspects of the divine, by calling out to the divine, we naturally reflect upon and call forth that divinity that exists within us all. Indeed, this call-response style chanting (kirtan) is a means of finding our way back to the core of our being, to our heart, and to our connection to each other. Truly, kirtan is for everyone--there are no prerequisites, no religious beliefs or cultural backgrounds that are needed to experience and participate in kirtan.

Jai Uttal	New York	Jai Uttal is a pioneer in the world music community. His eclectic east meets-west sound has put his music at the forefront of the world fusion movement. Jai is now receiving more and more requests to lead kirtan workshops and concerts all over the world.
Krishna Das	California	Krishna Das has been chanting on a regular basis in yoga centers all over the world. He has taught with Ram Dass and sung for many saints and yogis here and in India.
Ragani	Milwaukee	Ragani has lifelong involvements in yoga, meditation, and complementary medicine, and she has lectured in the US and abroad on topics of yoga science and stress management. Traveling with the yoga master, Swami Rama, to India and the Far East, Ragani has led kirtan around the world for over twenty years.
Wah!	Los Angeles	Wah!s music reflects her travel and spiritual experiences from many parts of the world. WAH! currently tours yoga centers, festivals, and conferences offering chanting, songs in English, stories & teachings to elevate audiences worldwide.
